  1. There are so many different names of the same cast on. Perhaps they are asking for you to alternate knit and purl stitches as you use the cable cast on. That is totally doable using the technique shown in the video. Good luck!

  2. I love, love, your videos. Thank you!
I was looking for a “Alternate Cable Cast On”.
A hat pattern (knit in the round) calls for that type of cast on.
Hope you could add that video to your collection.
    Thank You!!

  3. Is it better to use a cable cast on for knitting a hat or should I use a long tail cast on?? Which cast on is stretchier?

  4. First, I have to say that I LOVE your books and videos. No one explains how-to like you do! Working on “Building Blocks” took my knitting skills from a 3 to a 10 by the time I finished the book. It did the same for my confidence to tackle more interesting and difficult projects.
Now for my question; I am making a stocking cap and want to know the best cast-on method? Long-tail seems a bit tight, knit seems a bit loose, but maybe cable is just right?
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

  5. I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great. I don’t
know who you are but certainly you’re going to a famous blogger if you are not already 😉 Cheers!
